The demand for electricity has never been higher. New technologies like electric vehicles are heralding new demand. At Network Waitaki we are looking to the future.
To do that we need good people to ensure we provide a reliable network and keep the power humming for our more than 13,000 connections across our more than 1,800 kilometres of power lines. We are a major employer in the region – and we are proud of what we contribute.
Every year Network Waitaki invests in young people, the future of its business and its community through its scholarship programme. The majority of graduates go on to enjoy a rewarding, diverse career in the engineering and power sector.
Educational scholarships are available across either degrees or diplomas in electrical engineering or technology. We don’t dictate how the money is spent, only that you have a commitment to succeed.
Broadly, there are two options as to the pathway to your future, via either:
- A $4,000 per year contribution towards a Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering Technology majoring in electrical engineering with a focus on power systems, or a similar qualification relevant to the electricity distribution industry, or
- A $3,000 per year contribution towards a National Diploma in Engineering majoring in electrical engineering, or a tertiary qualification in information systems, data science and analytics, or geographic information systems.
Closing date for applications: 5pm on Friday, 17 January 2020.
